A teenager has been arrested after executing 'web attacks'

A 19-year-old boy has been arrested after being caught peforming web-attacks. The boy was arrested at his family home on monday in Wickford, Essex. The boy has been co-operative with the police so far and he has been charged for a number of different offenses. The majority of these offenses consists out of hacking (taking over) other websites and in some cases even shut down the website. Also one of the charges claim that he is conspiring with several unknown people to construct a 'bot-net' which is a collection of hijacked home computers - to conduct distributed denial of service attacks.

I'm quite suprised that someone at this age is already capable of doing such things, but it also worries as I am quite sure this is not the only kid that has these capabilities regarding computers. There should be a lot more assistance from the government to make sure websites cannot be hacked that easily so people don't have to deal with these hackers. As websites are not the only thing they can steal, even your creditcard details are not safe anymore these days if you use the internet to do your payments. So goverment, crank up that security up a notch to make sure these things cannot happen any longer.
